I’ve been itching to write this since wrapping up my fall list.
There’s so much I’m excited to wear, so much I want to buy, and plenty I’m still hunting for. I could write endlessly about all of it, but I decided to narrow my focus to pieces I already own and am actually wearing now that spring is in full swing.
Beyond just a season of rebirth, spring feels like a time of renewal. I’m looking at everything with a refreshed perspective. The weather is generally good—varied enough that I can wear just about anything—which has me asking: What am I really gravitating toward? That question has helped me pare things down and zero in on a few key categories that have made it into regular rotation.
Denim Trucker Jackets
Denim jackets are clearly having a moment. I’ve got a few, but I keep reaching for cropped trucker styles. They pair perfectly with high-waisted trousers, and the ones I wear most often have a slightly loose fit with a dropped shoulder. That short-and-boxy silhouette somehow makes me look more masculine and athletic—not something I consciously plan for, but the spike in fit pics doesn’t lie.
On the left is a British WWII Battledress jacket in olive denim; on the right, Orslow’s Type 1 in a 2-year wash that strikes a great balance between true vintage detailing and a '90s-style fade. Both are versatile, but I’ll admit: I’m a little less precious with the Orslow.
Colorful Shirting
I’ve always loved a button-down collar, but even more than that, I love an airy open-weave shirt. Brooks Brothers used to make these in a range of colors and stripes—what they offer now doesn’t hold a candle to the mid-to-late 20th century versions you can still find secondhand.
My go-tos: two of the aforementioned Brooks Brothers university stripe poplins in light blue and red, an older pale yellow with hunter green pencil stripes, and a 1990s Lands’ End Supima cotton pinpoint oxford in a bolder lemon yellow than you usually see.
