The 4½ Technical Jackets I'm Wearing This Spring

A short rotation of technical jackets for wet, windy, and generally unpleasant weather.

In like a lion, out like a lamb. Sometimes vice versa. It’s hard to say what March was, but there’s been a good deal of chilly, wet weather that has precipitated a desire in me to be prepared for any weather.

Technical gear has never been my favorite. The stiff inelegance of Gore-Tex and the alien textures of spongy fleece, grainy polyester, gummy spandex, and plasticy nylon leave so much to be desired. Still, I’ve come to terms with the fact that they have their place in a modern wardrobe until I can find (and afford) some good non-petroleum-byproduct alternatives. For now, I’ve narrowed down a tight edit of jackets that can get me through inclement weather at any temperature.
