Damn, yesterday was the first day of summer?? I feel like it came and went without any fanfare. Maybe I’m just showing my age (I still find myself wondering what the song of summer will be this year). LA weather really does mess with your awareness of the passing of time. It’s gone from 100 days of gloom to sunny weather finally, so it’s just hitting me that summer is in full swing.
This year, I’m trying to focus on enjoying the clothing I have already. I have too much, honestly, though I can always find a reason to add to the collection. I think in a world without consequences or living costs, the first thing I’d do is amass a personal archive of my favorite vintage pieces. Anyway, that’s all to say that I have too much I want to wear this summer and too much to list in one post.
Shorts
In New York, I rabidly defended the weird and antiquated position that shorts are only for little boys and sports. Mostly because I didn’t like how I looked in them and couldn’t figure out how to make them cool. I’d spend most of the summers seeking respite in air-conditioned spaces, but that wasn’t an option in LA. The secret recipe, I’ve found, is finding a balance of volume and length that works for you personally. And it is a deeply personal thing, which is why cut-offs are a great way to experiment and find the perfect length.
