Someone asked why I have a paid tier for this, and it made me realize I’ve been a little overly generous on free content and lax on posting, so I figured I’d do a post with some observations and insight into what I think is cool/interesting/unique and up-and-coming in the world of men’s fashion. Not necessarily trends, just things that have caught my eye recently that have gotten me excited. I’m covering everything from top-to-bottom and all the accouterments, with links galore, so buckle up.
Leather Blazers
Derek and Peter mused on this in their podcast this week, Peter on vintage Gucci. If I had one I’d rough it up a bit, pair it with a chunky ribbed roll neck or thermal, stonewashed jeans, a black and gold belt, and some well-worn black loafers — more Parisian-chic than Italian. I’ve had a vintage Jil Sander one in my eBay watch list for about five years now and still haven’t pulled the trigger, perhaps because leather is notoriously difficult and expensive to tailor, and I’m just not sure how it will fit. That being said, the reference here would be early 2000s Bourdain in the Scotland episode of his first show, A Cook’s Tour:
